Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, or in native Estonian – PÖFF – is one of the largest and most distinctive film events in Northern Europe and belongs to the 15 leading film festivals of the world. The festival embraces a cluster of events, accommodating three full-blown sub-festivals (Animated Dreams, Just Film, Sleepwalkers) as well as international industry events bringing together filmmakers from all over the world.
The festival includes three competition programmes (International Competition, Tridens competition, and North-American competition), a traditional film festival programme with documentaries and feature films as well as programmes for short films, retrospectives and film related special events (concerts, exhibitions, talks and more).
Black Nights Film Festival main programme (14 - 30 November 2014) - International Competition programme and Tridens Baltic feature film competition. Informative side programmes include fiction and documentary features from previous 2 years, retrospective of a filmmaker, genre or studio, and focus on Polish films.
Animation Film Festival Animated Dreams (19 - 23 November 2014) - Competition of short animations from previous 2 years. Additional non-competitive programmes include a retrospective of a filmmaker and focus on a country.
Children and Youth Film Festival Just Film (14 - 23 November 2014) - Competition of children's films and youth films. Non-competitive special programmes.
Short Film Festival Sleepwalkers (18 - 22 November 2014) - Four competitions of selected student and short films from previous 2 years, a retrospective of a noted film school, special programmes.
Industry@Tallinn (24 - 28 November 2014) - a set of Industry oriented events during Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival organized by both the Black Nights festival and Baltic Event.
